Excerpta Medica Amsterdam is expanding, so again Jopportunity is filling the vacancy
Medical Advisor Custom Publishing & Interactive
Develops e-learning, online and print content for Medical Events and spin-offs.
What will be your role in this vacancy Medical Advisor?
As a Medical Advisor you develop and guard medically/scientifically accurate contents for e-learning programs, print- and on-line communication.
The Medical Advisor is a creative sparring partner for the other team members. On the clientside, you’ll have meetings and conference calls with (medical) doctors and authors (scientists). The clients’ view has to be expressed at the end of the project. So you’ll do a lot of fact checking and give input to the editorial staff (sometimes you may do some writing yourself). You work together intensely with the Program Manager who has the overall project responsibility, but is not responsible for the content (thus has a more commercial role). Also you (help) identify opportunities and contribute to gaining potential new business. (If you are more junior, you will be trained in this.)
In other words: you will be responsible for communications programme proposal development and review, content development and assessment. As a Medical Advisor you work in close cooperation with Department Directors, Program Directors, and Account Directors in Medical Communications, Business Development, and Custom Publishing. You report to the Director of Medical and Support Services.
Who am I looking for in this vacancy Medical Advisor?
Ideally you meet as much as possible of these criteria:
•You have a sound scientific background: a degree in Medicine or some other relevant clinical degree (MD, DO), Biological Sciences (PhD), or Pharmacy (PharmD, RPh). You need to enjoy the scientific aspects of the matter, without digging in to the pure science really deep, since you’ll shift your focus between many different medical and pharmaceutical subjects • Preferably at least 2 years’ relevant experience in a medical communications agency or pharmaceutical industry
• Preferably experienced in on-line and/or e-learning, and knowledge of publication development
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills in English (you'll do many teleconferences)
• Open personality and teamspirit: rather than a scientist, you are ‘a communicator’: you convince both your team ánd your client on the relevant aspects of some drug or therapeutical area in a way that the editorial staff feels secure on what to develop and that your client trusts his conference to be in good hands. This asks for a strong personality who enjoys interaction, both face-to-face and in teleconferences
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and as a part of a team, well organized, efficient, diplomatic, and flexible, willing to travel internationally
You don’t have to live in the Amsterdam area already, but must be willing to move here if you now live abroad. Are you an expat? Excerpta helps with relocation and there is an attractive tax-reduction. (Valid EU work permit required.)
What does Excerpta Medica offer you in return?
You’ll get a demanding but rewarding, entrepreneurial position. If you qualify, promotion to Sr. Medical Advisor is within reach. 27 days annual holiday, extra time you put in, can be compensated with extra days off.
Remuneration package is highly competitive and commensurate with experience. Excerpta pays an extra 13th month, has profit sharing, and pays 2/3 of your pension, plus corporate health-insurance discount. The Amsterdam Staff organises monthly training programs, you can also enroll in the overall Reed Elsevier professional training and enjoy the office gym.
With offices in several vibrant cities, Excerpta Medica will offer you the opportunity to broaden your horizons by working in an international and multicultural dynamic organization, and development your scientific, marketing and communication skills, with well-educated and dedicated colleagues.
